Robots were a big thing in the 80’s. Don’t believe me? Check this out.
- KITT from Knight Rider
- The Terminator
- RoboCop
- Optimus Prime
- Megatron
- The rest of the Transformers gang.
- C-3po (in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi)
- R2-D2 (in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi)
- Data (from Star Trek: The Next Generation)
The list goes on and on. Of course, no list of 80’s robots would be complete without Johnny-5, the lovable robot from the 1986 film Short Circuit. You remember short circuit, right? Okay, let me refresh your memory.
That’s right baby, Steve Guttenberg! You remember him, right? No? Okay, let me re-refresh your memory.
Now you remember, right? I knew you would. Who can forget old Stevie Goots?
Anyway, the Hollywood fatcats decided that, instead of coming up with an original idea for once, they’re going to remake every movie from the 80’s starting with Short Circuit. Seriously. According to this post from Screen Rant, the new version of Short Circuit will be written by Dan Milano from Robot Chicken fame. Will this movie be any good? I don’t know. Does it really matter? Probably not. The only movies worth seeing anymore are made by Pixar.
Anyway, with all the Guttenberg talk in this post I thought I should leave you with this.
