I should have known something was fishy about President Obama. His nice smile, his intelligence, his grace. It was almost too mechanical. Could President Obama himself be a robot? President Obama gave us a clue recently when he laid out his science agenda in a speech at the National Academy of Sciences.
As detailed in this article at Robots.net, President Obama confirmed that robotics will play an important part in engaging young people to participate in the sciences. Specifically, President Obama said we need to, “Think about new and creative ways to engage young people in science and engineering, like science festivals, robotics competitions, and fairs that encourage young people to create, build, and invent — to be makers of things, not just consumers of things.” (My emphasis added.)
While many will be quick to celebrate President Obama’s pro-science positions, I say we should give pause to his proclamations. Just what does he mean when he says children should be “makers of things”? Could President Obama secretly be calling for the creation of a robot army to destroy us all? Only time will tell, I’m afraid.
In the meanwhile, I have my top men working around the clock to decode the President’s remarks. So far, we’ve discovered nothing, except that President Obama’s speech played backwards on top of old Miles Davis records produces a decidedly funky groove.
