Giant Space Robot Prepared to Devour Travelers at San Jose Airport
April 16th, 2009 | by RobI was perusing my Google alert for robots today (an absolutely necessary habit in keeping ahead of the robot resistance) and I noticed a rather interesting bit of news. Apparently, the Mineta San Jose International Airport is in the early stages of building a two-story tall, three-legged, robot monstrosity with video camera arms and giant razor sharp teeth. Okay, fine. I made up the teeth part, but the rest is true.
Can you believe this? I mean, I know California is full of weirdos, and Silicon Valley is the veritable front line on the War on Robots, but building a giant space monster in the middle of the airport? That seems like a bit much. People will never want to visit. The giant looming figure of “Space Observer,” as it’s apparently been named, will either scare them to death on sight or so profoundly haunt their dreams that they’ll never come back. Worst of all, it’s being paid for with our tax dollars!! George Washington would be rolling in his grave. Check out the artist rendering below.
