So I know that most of the time I blog about deadly robots and evil computer brains, but I’ve decided to take a break from that topic for today’s post. You see, I’ve recently come into some knowledge that has left me profoundly disturbed. Apparently, the Sci-Fi channel (the holy grail of bad made-for-TV monster movies, reruns of Twilight Zone, and amazing original programming like Battlestar Galactica) is undergoing a major re-branding campaign. Beginning June 7th, the Sci-Fi channel will be known as Syfy.
Syfy. What the hell does that mean? It sound like Sci-Fi, but it certainly doesn’t stand for science fiction. According to the company’s official press release the new brand will, “broaden perceptions and embrace a wider and more diverse range of imagination-based entertainment including fantasy, paranormal, reality, mystery, action and adventure, as well as science fiction.”
Hmm. Sounds like a bunch of marketing B.S. to me. I guess I should give it the benefit of the doubt, but I fear change. Will all of my favorite shows still be aired? Will I be able to see Sci-Fi original movies like Mansquito? Only time will tell.

Hey Bloggers! This is Tibor Takács, director of the aforementioned”Mansquito”.
My staff informed me that my little known, yet critically adored moving picture, “Mansquito” was mentioned in this blog posting. I just wanted to drop a line and say “Hey. What’s Up?” to my fans.
Whether working on Sabrina – The Teenage Witch, The Red Shoe Diaries, or my directorial debut: Metal Messiah, I wield imagination as the scepter that makes lesser director tremble in fear. Maybe you have to be born in Budapest to think that way. Guess what? I WAS. Suck it.
Anywho, I’d like to thank you kind folks for Face Booking, Our Spacing and Twatting about my moving picture.
Get it now at the recession-friendly price of $9.98 at Amazon.com! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007UDC94/imdb-adbox/
hahahahahahahahaha!
Totally agree with you. Here’s more stuff on the SyFy stuff, apparently if you check out his blog, he’s been getting tweets from the SyFy GM of Digital…

Thanks for the comment. There’s been some pretty heated reaction to the change from bloggers everywhere. Makes you wonder how much consumer research they did before making the announcement.
Shaun, I assume you’re laughing at the Mansquito comment. Soooo weird. I think that’ll have to become a running gag on this blog.
